MUSCAT : The projects form part of the Governorate’s wider efforts to develop key tourism and heritage assets, improve visitor experiences and strengthen the economic potential of both wilayats.
Among the major projects under implementation are the Eastern Mountain Oasis project, the rehabilitation and development of Misfat Al Abriyeen in Al Hamra, the redevelopment of Bahla Market, and the development of the Jabrin entrance and Basya area in Bahla.
Sheikh Mahmoud bin Rashid Al Saadi, Acting Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, said during a field inspection that direct monitoring is central to ensuring projects remain on schedule, meet quality standards and overcome implementation challenges through coordination with the relevant authorities.

He said the Governorate is directing development projects according to the comparative advantages of each wilayat, with the aim of supporting tourism, attracting investment, creating opportunities for small and medium enterprises and increasing local economic value.
The Eastern Mountain Oasis project has crossed 80 per cent completion and is being developed over an area of approximately 10,000 square metres. The project includes an investment restaurant, outdoor theatre, shaded seating areas, prayer rooms, pedestrian walkways and open spaces.
It is designed to promote mountain tourism, enhance the visitor experience and create new opportunities for investment and economic activity. Local content participation during the implementation phase has reached 85 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Misfat Al Abriyeen rehabilitation and development project has reached 40 per cent completion. The project includes the construction of a glass bridge and pedestrian walkway, along with improvements to pathways, lighting, signage and parking facilities.
The upgrades are expected to improve visitor movement and services while preserving the village’s distinctive architectural and heritage character.
In Bahla, the Bahla Market rehabilitation project has reached around 94 per cent completion, with a project value exceeding RO 477,000.
Works include the rehabilitation of shopfronts and commercial spaces, restoration of traditional architectural elements, and improvements to pathways and public services. A tourism corridor is also being created to connect the ancient mosque with Bahla Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The project is expected to strengthen tourism and commercial activity while supporting artisans, entrepreneurs and SMEs.
The Jabrin entrance and Basya area development project, meanwhile, has reached 40 per cent completion. It includes improvements to facilities, parking areas, lighting and seating spaces, as well as upgrades to the road leading to the Salout Centre.
Al Saadi reaffirmed that the Governorate will continue to closely monitor the projects, strengthen coordination between concerned authorities and address any challenges that could affect progress.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining high implementation standards, ensuring the sustainability of the facilities and achieving the targeted economic and developmental returns.
