MUSCAT: The settlement, reached by the Consumer Protection Authority’s department in South Al Batinah, resulted in the cancellation of the order and a full refund of the value of gold previously handed over by the consumer.
According to the CPA, the consumer had agreed with the establishment to design and craft a gold piece based on specific specifications and details. As part of the agreement, she handed over a 28-gram gold necklace, with its value to be included in the transaction.
After the establishment began work on the order, the consumer found that the jewellery piece was not being made according to the specifications agreed upon.

Following the consumer’s complaint, the Consumer Protection Department intervened and reached an amicable settlement between the two parties. Under the settlement, the design order was cancelled and the value of the gold necklace handed over by the consumer was refunded, amounting to RO 1,160.
