MUSCAT : The road was officially opened on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, as part of a wider 9-kilometre road upgrade project aimed at enhancing connectivity and road safety.

The newly opened section begins at the main Jabal Akhdar road opposite the DusitD2 Naseem Resort, Jabal Akhdar, and extends to Al Makhb, passing through Shanout.

The ministry stated that the road has been equipped with comprehensive traffic safety infrastructure, including metal and concrete barriers, as well as directional and warning signs, to improve safety for motorists.
