MUSCAT – The project covered several marine areas across the Wilayats of Dibba and Khasab, as well as the Niabat of Lima, providing essential facilities to improve working conditions for fishermen and enhance fish landing operations.

The rehabilitation works included marine areas such as Hafah, Sanat, Al Shariyah Al Hilwah, Adas, Al Sadwain, Dini and Al Aqabah in Dibba. In Khasab, the project covered Nadhifi, Sham, Saibi, Ghub Ali, Qubbah, Shisah, Shabus, Al Balad, Ghafoul, Al Bout and Kumzar, in addition to Ims and Ma’awi in Niabat of Lima.

Dr Ali bin Abdullah Al Alawi, Director General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in Musandam Governorate, said the region’s rich marine environment and diverse fish resources make fishing one of the most important economic activities for local communities.

He said many fishermen operate in scattered marine areas located away from government service centres, making it necessary to rehabilitate these locations and provide basic facilities to support their activities.
The project included the construction of fixed docks and shelters to reduce challenges faced by fishermen and their families, improve services at landing sites, enhance safety during boat operations and help maintain the quality of landed fish.
