MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has apprehended two motorists for driving at speeds exceeding 200 kilometres per hour on Sultan Said bin Taimur Road while travelling towards Dhofar Governorate.
According to the General Directorate of Traffic, the violations were detected through mobile speed monitoring devices during routine traffic enforcement operations. One vehicle was recorded travelling at 222km/h, while another was clocked at 203km/h.
The ROP said legal procedures are being completed against both drivers in accordance with the Sultanate’s traffic laws and regulations.

Authorities continue to urge motorists to adhere to speed limits and drive responsibly, particularly on long-distance highways, warning that excessive speeding remains one of the leading causes of serious road accidents and fatalities.
