Madrid: According to a statement released by Real Madrid, the club has reached an agreement with Silva that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 30, 2028. The move comes after Manchester City confirmed the departure of the 31-year-old midfielder in April, bringing an end to a highly successful nine-year spell in England.
Silva joined Manchester City from AS Monaco in 2017 and went on to become one of the club’s most influential players under manager Pep Guardiola. During his time at the Etihad Stadium, he made 460 appearances and helped the club secure six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, five League Cups, and the UEFA Champions League trophy.
On the international stage, Silva has earned 109 caps for Portugal and played a key role in the country’s two UEFA Nations League triumphs.

Widely regarded for his tactical versatility, technical quality, and relentless work rate, Silva is expected to bring valuable experience and creativity to Real Madrid’s midfield as the Spanish giants look to rebuild following a disappointing 2025-26 campaign. The club finished without the La Liga title and exited the UEFA Champions League at the quarter-final stage.
The signing is part of a broader effort by Real Madrid to reinforce their squad ahead of the new season. Earlier this week, the club also secured the services of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea FC as it aims to return to domestic and European success.
