MUSCAT : The settlement was reached by the Directorate General of Consumer Protection Authority in North Al Batinah Governorate following a complaint filed by the buyer.
According to the complaint, the consumer had agreed to purchase a vehicle imported by a specialised company under specific contractual terms and paid an advance of RO1,900, with delivery expected within an agreed timeframe.
However, delivery was delayed, prompting the consumer to follow up with the company, where it was later discovered that the vehicle could not be registered due to flood damage, which did not match the agreed specifications.
The supplier also delayed refunding the payment for nearly two months, raising concerns over transparency and compliance with commercial obligations.
Following verification of the complaint, the CPA’s office in Suwaiq intervened and facilitated an amicable settlement between both parties, resulting in cancellation of the contract and full refund of the amount paid.
