MUSCAT : According to the authority’s department in Barka, a total of RO 4,420 was recovered following complaints from consumers who had paid in advance for airline ticket bookings and tourism programmes that were not delivered as agreed.
The authority said the establishment failed to provide the contracted services despite receiving payments, causing financial losses to consumers and constituting a violation of the Consumer Protection Law and its implementing regulations.
Following receipt of the complaints, the department initiated legal and administrative procedures, including summoning the establishment, investigating the cases, and verifying the company’s non-compliance with contractual obligations.
The efforts resulted in an amicable settlement requiring the establishment to refund the affected consumers, in line with the authority’s commitment to safeguarding consumer rights and ensuring compensation in cases of service failure.
