MUSCAT : Oman’s Foreign Minister His Excellency Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi and India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar discussed regional developments, maritime security and bilateral cooperation during a phone call on Monday, amid growing concerns over navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Oman News Agency, the two ministers reviewed areas of cooperation between Oman and India and exchanged views on the evolving regional situation, particularly in light of disruptions affecting maritime traffic in the region and the Strait of Hormuz.

The ministers stressed the need to intensify diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and finding sustainable solutions to the ongoing crisis, the report said.

In a separate call, Sayyid Badr also held talks with Austria’s Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger, during which both sides discussed regional and global developments linked to the current tensions.

The two ministers underlined the importance of continuing diplomatic engagement to achieve a breakthrough in the crisis and ease its complications, while ensuring the uninterrupted flow of maritime supply chains and safeguarding freedom of navigation in accordance with international law.

They also stressed the need for all parties concerned to demonstrate flexibility and make the necessary concessions to reach sustainable solutions that would spare the region and the wider world from further conflict and armed confrontation.
