MUSCAT : The Directorate General of Consumer Protection in North Al Batinah, represented by the Department of Consumer Services and Market Surveillance, reached an amicable settlement with a vehicle dealership after the consumer reported rust defects in the lower section of the vehicle and rear seat handles shortly after taking delivery.
According to the Authority, the consumer discovered the defects within half an hour of receiving the new vehicle and returned it to the dealership on the same day. The dealership initially responded that vehicles manufactured from iron could contain rust-related defects.
Following the complaint, officials from the Directorate summoned representatives of the dealership to review the case. After discussions, the dealership acknowledged the defect, and an agreement was reached to refund the full vehicle value of RO 10,000 to the consumer.
