MUSCAT – The decision regulates the circulation of tires in the market and prohibits the sale of used tires, as part of ongoing efforts by the Consumer Protection Authority to enhance road safety and protect consumer rights.

The decision, issued in 2015, establishes mandatory standards for tire quality and safety to ensure that only compliant products are traded in the market, thereby reducing risks associated with road accidents and unsafe vehicle components.

Under the regulation, the trading of used tires of all types and sizes is strictly prohibited in Oman. In addition, the sale of unused tires is not permitted if they exceed specified age limits: 24 months for passenger car tires, buses, and light trucks, and 30 months for heavy truck tires.
