DUBAI : An unnamed Iranian military official has stated that the Islamic Republic had no prior plan to target oil facilities at Fujairah port, distancing Tehran from any role in the incident. Speaking to Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), the official claimed the fire was not the result of an Iranian attack.

According to the statement, the incident was instead attributed to actions by the United States military. The official alleged that the fire stemmed from “US military adventurism” aimed at facilitating the “illegal transit of ships” through restricted waterways in the Strait of Hormuz.

The remarks further called for accountability, asserting that US authorities must take responsibility for the consequences of such actions. The official also urged Washington to refrain from what was described as the improper use of force in diplomatic matters, warning that heightened military activity in the oil-rich region could have broader economic implications globally.
