MUSCAT – The violation involved failure to properly provide the service and to issue an invoice to the consumer.
The case originated from a complaint received by the Consumer Protection Authority’s department in Barka. The consumer reported that he had contracted with the establishment in August 2024 to repair a vehicle’s computer at a cost of RO 550, paying an advance of RO 350. However, the establishment failed to repair the fault, repeatedly delayed the service, and did not refund the agreed amount. It also failed to issue an invoice, prompting the consumer to file a formal complaint requesting a refund.
Following the completion of legal procedures, the case was referred to the Public Prosecution, where the violation was substantiated.

The court subsequently ruled to convict the establishment and impose financial penalties for both charges. The court also ordered the establishment to refund the advance payment of RO 350 and to pay compensation of RO 200 for damages.
Additionally, the court ruled that enforcement of the criminal penalty would be suspended if the establishment complies with the civil judgment within the specified period.
