MUSCAT – The CPA stated that it has successfully reached an amicable settlement between a consumer and a vehicle trading and import establishment, resulting in the cancellation of a sales contract and the refund of RO 1,830 after fraud and misrepresentation were established.
The Authority said the case is part of its ongoing efforts to safeguard consumer rights and promote transparency and fairness in commercial transactions.
According to details of the case, the consumer purchased a vehicle advertised on a social media platform. However, upon receipt and inspection, the vehicle was found to have been previously involved in a major accident that had caused damage to the chassis.

When the seller was confronted with the defects, he delayed refunding the payment for nearly two months, despite repeated follow-ups, in what the Authority described as a violation of transparency and integrity in commercial dealings.
Following the complaint, the CPA’s office in Al Suwaiq initiated legal procedures and verified the facts through coordination with the concerned parties. These efforts led to an amicable settlement that included the cancellation of the sale and full reimbursement of the amount paid by the consumer.
The Authority stressed the importance of full disclosure by suppliers regarding the condition and history of vehicles at the time of sale, warning against concealing defects that may harm consumer rights.
