Muscat — The move aims to facilitate faster market entry for entrepreneurs, reduce licensing delays, and enhance the competitiveness of Oman’s business environment.

Under the new approach, businesses will be allowed to begin operations more quickly without undergoing prior inspections, with authorities instead conducting inspections subsequently to ensure compliance with regulations and requirements.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to improve competitiveness, reduce administrative barriers and create a more attractive investment climate. It also seeks to promote self-compliance among establishments while maintaining regulatory oversight.

Municipality said the shift from pre-inspection to post-inspection is expected to streamline licensing procedures, reduce time and costs for investors, and improve overall user experience, particularly for entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium-sized enterprises.

It further added that the new system will enhance transparency and clarity in regulatory requirements, while strengthening monitoring mechanisms to ensure adherence to standards after businesses begin operations.

The reform targets entrepreneurs and SMEs as key beneficiaries.
