MUSCAT – Authorities reported that key routes in multiple governorates are either impassable or limited to four-wheel drive vehicles as conditions continue to deteriorate.
In North Al Batinah Governorate, the Sohar–Hibi Road has been declared impassable, while Wadi Shafan Road is accessible only to four-wheel drive vehicles. In South Al Batinah, Wadi Bani Awf Road is also restricted to four-wheel drives.
In Al Dhahirah Governorate, both the Empty Quarter (Rub’ al Khali) Road and the Yanqul–Sohar Road have been closed. Mahdah–Hamidiyah Road in Al Buraimi Governorate is likewise impassable.

In Al Wusta Governorate, Al Zamayem–Mahout Road remains open only to four-wheel drive vehicles.
Separately, the Amerat–Bousher Mountain Road has been closed as a precaution due to expected heavy rainfall.
Authorities have also confirmed at least five fatalities linked to the severe weather so far, urging residents to avoid crossing flooded wadis and low-lying areas due to the risk of sudden surges.
The Ministry of Transport has advised motorists to use designated alternative routes and practice caution while driving until normal conditions are restored.
