MUSCAT : As part of its Travel Health Service guidance, the ministry advised travellers to wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consumption, choose fruits with thick skins and maintain proper hand hygiene before and after meals.
The ministry recommended avoiding raw or undercooked foods, particularly meat and seafood, and ensuring that cooked food is consumed promptly and leftovers are stored safely.
Travellers were also advised to use bottled water, check the source of ice used in cold drinks, avoid swimming in discoloured water and ensure dairy products such as milk, yoghurt and cheese are pasteurised.
The ministry further cautioned against consuming food from street vendors and encouraged travellers to take preventive measures to protect their health during trips.
