Oman’s South Al Batinah hit by rainfall, authorities activate emergency and relief measures

The wilayats of A’Rustaq, Barka, Al Musannah, Al Awabi, Nakhal, and Wadi Al Maawil in South Al Batinah Governorate experienced rainfall of varying intensities today.

MUSCAT : Lt. Colonel Salim Ahmed Al Saidi, Director of the Operations Department and Coordinator of the Sub-Committee for Emergency Management in South Al Batinah Governorate, highlighted the committee’s efforts in integrated coordination with all relevant sectors to respond to received reports. He noted that awareness is being raised among residents in coastal areas, low-lying regions, and locations near wadis regarding the necessity of taking caution to safeguard lives and property, while adhering to instructions and guidelines for the latest weather developments.

Al Saidi emphasised the importance of obtaining information from official sources and following the instructions issued by them. He also stressed the need to comply with traffic safety instructions, adhere to driving rules during climatic conditions, and avoid the risk of crossing wadi streams to ensure public safety.

In a related development, the Directorate General of Social Development in South Al Batinah Governorate has activated relief and shelter centres across the various wilayats of the governorate. These centres have been equipped with all basic and essential services required for such situations.
