MUSCAT : The Ministry has issued a set of occupational safety and health instructions for workers and employers in light of ongoing adverse weather conditions, citing the Executive Regulation for Occupational Safety and Health Measures No. 286/2008.
According to the ministry, all outdoor work and tasks at heights must be suspended immediately when weather conditions deteriorate. Work on scaffolding, exposed surfaces, or any elevated structures is strictly prohibited during rain or strong winds. Materials, equipment, and unsecured tools should be safely stored to prevent hazards, while excavation sites and trenches must be secured with barriers, covers, and warning signage.
The guidelines also call for designated safe routes for pedestrians and vehicles, inspection of scaffolding, ladders, and platforms before resuming operations, and protection of temporary power sources, cables, and sockets from water exposure. Workers are required to comply with emergency plans and report any hazards to supervisors without delay.
