MUSCAT : Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has suspended in-person classes and shifted to remote learning from March 24 to 26, 2026, citing adverse weather conditions affecting several governorates across Oman.
In a notice issued on Monday, the university said the decision was taken in line with weather alerts issued by relevant authorities regarding heavy rainfall, and as part of ongoing coordination and monitoring of developments to ensure student safety.
“All in-person classes will be suspended and shifted to remote learning during this period,” the statement said, adding that all examinations scheduled during these days will be postponed to later dates.

The university said regular in-person classes are set to resume on Sunday, March 29, while administrative, academic and technical staff will continue to work as usual in accordance with existing regulations.
The move comes as Oman faces a spell of unstable weather driven by a low-pressure system, bringing heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds to several parts of the country, leading to flooding in wadis and low-lying areas.
