MUSCAT : According to the Ministry, platelet donation is a safe and straightforward procedure carried out using a specialized machine that separates platelets from other blood components. The process typically takes between 40 and 60 minutes and does not affect the donor’s health.
Health authorities emphasised that individuals can donate platelets once every 15 days, making it a vital and repeatable contribution to patients in need, including those undergoing cancer treatment, surgeries, or suffering from blood disorders.
The Central Blood Bank in Bausher operates platelet donation services from Saturday to Thursday between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm, and on Fridays from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
