MUSCAT : Statistics show that Oman produced a total of 4 billion, 455 million and 100 thousand cubic meters of natural gas by the end of January 2026, down from 4 billion, 603 million and 500 thousand cubic meters recorded during the same period in 2025.
The decline was largely driven by a significant reduction in associated gas production, which fell by 17.4 percent, reaching 899.5 million cubic meters compared to 1.089 billion cubic meters during the corresponding period last year.
However, non-associated gas production, including imports, registered a slight increase of 1.2 percent, reaching 3 billion, 555 million and 600 thousand cubic meters by the end of January 2026, compared to 3 billion, 514 million and 500 thousand cubic meters during the same period in 2025.

On the consumption side, industrial projects recorded higher natural gas usage, rising by 5.9 percent to 2 billion, 566 million and 400 thousand cubic meters, up from 2 billion, 423 million and 200 thousand cubic meters a year earlier.
Gas consumption in power generation plants also witnessed an increase of 14.1 percent, reaching 1.157 billion and 400 thousand cubic meters by the end of January 2026, compared to 1.14 billion and 300 thousand cubic meters during the same period in 2025.
Meanwhile, gas consumption in oil fields, which includes losses, meter discrepancies and shrinkage factors, saw a sharp decline of 38.1 percent, dropping to 707 million and 300 thousand cubic meters compared to 1 billion, 142 million and 900 thousand cubic meters in the corresponding period of 2025.
Gas usage in industrial areas, including industrial estates as well as facilities such as the Oman Mining Company and Oman Cement, recorded a 3.7 percent increase, reaching 24 million and 100 thousand cubic meters by the end of January 2026, up from 23 million and 200 thousand cubic meters during the same period last year.
