MUSCAT : In a public awareness message, the governorate urged urging families to prepare balanced meals, reduce food waste and practise moderation to help preserve resources and the blessings associated with the holy month.

The message emphasised that responsible choices during Ramadan can make a meaningful difference in curbing waste and encouraging sustainable habits at home and within the community.

It stressed that the spirit of Ramadan is not defined by the quantity of food on the table but by responsibility, gratitude and moderation. It called on residents to prepare appropriate portions, avoid excessive cooking and ensure food is used wisely.

“Ramadan reminds us that mindful choices make a difference. Preparing balanced portions, reducing waste and practising moderation are essential habits that help preserve the blessings of our tables,” the message stated.

The governorate highlighted that small daily actions – such as planning meals carefully, storing food properly and sharing surplus with others – can collectively reduce unnecessary waste while reinforcing the values of gratitude and generosity associated with the holy month.

According to the advisory, preserving blessings begins with responsible behaviour, including moderating consumption, reducing excess, managing food efficiently and ensuring that leftovers are used rather than discarded.

Authorities also encouraged residents to share food with those in need and maintain a spirit of generosity while remaining conscious of responsible consumption.

“Minimising waste is a daily choice that preserves the blessings on our tables,” the governorate noted, adding that moderation and gratitude can help ensure that the values of Ramadan extend beyond the month and become lasting habits in everyday life.
