MUSCAT – The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has suspended all operating permits for unmanned aircraft and a wide range of aerial activities across the Sultanate of Oman, effective immediately, as part of what it described as precautionary safety measures.
In a circular issued on Tuesday, the authority said the decision covers all unmanned aircraft (drones), whether used for governmental, commercial or recreational purposes. The suspension also applies to paragliding, paramotors, aerial sports aircraft and any aviation-related sports activities or events.
The CAA said the decision takes effect from the date of issuance, March 3, 2026, and will remain in force until further notice.

“During the suspension period, the operation or flight of any of the aforementioned activities within the airspace of the Sultanate of Oman shall be prohibited,” the authority said in the statement. It added that no new permits for such activities will be issued for the duration of the decision.
The move forms part of temporary precautionary actions aimed at enhancing safety levels and regulating the use of national airspace, the CAA said. The authority noted that the measure is intended to ensure the highest standards of aviation safety.
Officials said the situation will be reviewed on a continuous basis and that further decisions will be taken in line with developments.
The CAA emphasized the importance of full compliance with the circular and called for cooperation from all stakeholders to maintain security and safety standards in Oman’s airspace.
