MUSCAT – Addressing restaurants and cafés, the municipality stated that uncovered food is highly susceptible to contamination from dust, insects and microbes, increasing the risk of foodborne illnesses.
It underscored the need for all food establishments to strictly adhere to approved health regulations to guarantee safe food for consumers.
The municipality further pointed out that exposure to dust and environmental pollutants can compromise food quality, while improper protection creates conditions that encourage the growth of harmful microorganisms. The presence of insects further heightens the risk of bacteria being transferred directly onto food, potentially endangering public health.
