MUSCAT – Oman’s Foreign Minister His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi spoke on Sunday with several Arab and friendly counterparts in a series of intensive telephone exchanges focusing on accelerating efforts to contain regional tensions, the rapid escalation of the conflict and its security and stability implications, the Oman TV News Centre reported.

According to the state media post, Al Busaidi emphasised the dangerous repercussions and broader security fallout of the Israel-U.S. military actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and reiterated Muscat’s call for restraint.

In separate comments during a previously reported telephone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Al Busaidi welcomed Tehran’s stated openness to serious initiatives aimed at de-escalating hostilities and returning to diplomatic engagement. Araghchi expressed appreciation for Oman’s constructive diplomatic role and said Iran was prepared to support efforts that would help halt escalation and restore stability, Oman News Agency reported.

During his talks with other regional colleagues, the Omani minister stressed the importance of an immediate ceasefire, a sustained return to negotiations through diplomatic channels and avoidance of actions that could further inflame tensions or undermine good-neighbourly relations.
