Muscat — Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have strongly condemned the strike targeting Oman’s Duqm Port, describing the attack as a serious violation of the Sultanate’s sovereignty and a threat to regional stability.

In a statement, the GCC Secretary-General denounced the targeting of the commercial port and nearby facilities, calling it an unacceptable escalation that undermines security in the Gulf and endangers maritime navigation and global energy routes. The council reaffirmed its full solidarity with the Sultanate of Oman and its support for all measures taken by Muscat to safeguard national security and protect critical infrastructure.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain issued separate statements echoing the collective stance, condemning the attack in the strongest terms and warning against actions that could further destabilise the region. The countries stressed the importance of respecting international law, state sovereignty and the principles of good neighbourly relations.

Officials highlighted Duqm’s strategic importance as a key commercial and logistics hub on Oman’s Arabian Sea coast, noting that any threat to such infrastructure has wider implications for regional trade flows and energy security.

Omani authorities have confirmed that the strike caused limited damage, while security and emergency teams were deployed to assess the situation and ensure public safety. The government reiterated that necessary measures are being taken to maintain stability and protect vital facilities.

The condemnation comes amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, with several Gulf states reporting missile and drone incidents in recent days. GCC leaders called for restraint and urged all parties to avoid further escalation that could jeopardise peace and stability in the region.
