MUSCAT – Hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and organised by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the event features the participation of 90 experts, specialists, and airspace users representing 19 countries, three international organisations, and various airlines.

Over the course of three days, the meeting will review global developments in the field of air traffic management and discuss challenges impacting the fluidity of air traffic within the Middle East region and at interface points with neighbouring regions. Moreover, the sessions will explore methods to improve airspace management and bolster regional coordination between member states.

The meeting includes bilateral and multilateral sessions aimed at presenting potential improvement proposals for airspaces and discussing cross-border contingency arrangements. Additionally, working group sessions involving airspace users are being organized to develop air traffic management mechanisms and discuss the enhancement of ATM services.

Eng. Saleh Abdullah Al Harthy, Director General of Air Navigation at the Civil Aviation Authority, emphasized that hosting this regional meeting underscores the growing role of the Sultanate of Oman as an active regional hub in the field of civil aviation. He highlighted Oman’s commitment to supporting the efforts of the International Civil Aviation Organization and strengthening regional and international cooperation, thereby contributing to elevated safety levels and operational efficiency for air traffic management across the region’s airspace
