MUSCAT : The coordination meeting, scheduled from February 1 to 3, will examine global developments in air traffic management and address challenges affecting air traffic flows across the Middle East and at inter-regional contact points. Discussions will focus on improving airspace management, enhancing regional coordination, and updating joint agreements between countries on air traffic services.
This will be followed by the Crisis Management Workshop from February 4 to 5, 2026, which will review ICAO’s emergency planning requirements, the Emergency Coordination Team mechanism, and the exchange of experiences between ICAO regions. The workshop will place particular emphasis on strengthening cross-border coordination and developing effective regional emergency arrangements.
The hosting of the meeting and workshop underscores the Sultanate of Oman’s growing role as an active regional hub in civil aviation, supporting ICAO’s efforts to enhance regional and international cooperation while raising safety and operational efficiency across regional airspace.
