Oman’s Labour Ministry highlights progress in Geneva during UN human rights review

The Ministry of Labour participated as part of the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation in the 2026 Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of human rights, held by the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.

MUSCAT – This session marked the fourth periodic review of Oman’s human rights record.

During the review, the Ministry highlighted Oman’s efforts in promoting and protecting human rights, with a focus on labour rights, workers’ rights, domestic workers, women’s rights, and combating child labour. The Ministry also outlined national initiatives and legislative developments aligned with international standards and conventions.

Representatives from the Ministry of Labour presented progress made in implementing previous UPR recommendations and engaged constructively with feedback and suggestions from UN member states, reflecting Oman’s commitment to dialogue, international cooperation, and transparency.

The UPR mechanism provides countries with a platform to exchange best practices, strengthen national human rights policies, and support sustainable development while promoting human dignity.
