MUSCAT – The Ministry stressed the importance of consulting a physician before deciding to fast, particularly for patients with type 1 diabetes, kidney disease, or liver disease. Patients who take regular medications are also advised to consult their doctors to adjust medication schedules in preparation for fasting.
The Ministry recommended postponing physical exercise until after Iftar to reduce the risk of low blood sugar levels. It also advised drinking sufficient amounts of water between Suhoor and Iftar, while reducing the intake of stimulants such as tea, coffee, and soft drinks.
In addition, the Ministry emphasised the need to follow a healthy and balanced diet as advised by doctors and nutritionists. Patients are encouraged to delay the pre-dawn meal (suhoor) as much as possible and ensure that it includes vegetables, fruits, and adequate protein.
