Muscat: The University Medical City has begun operating a major expansion of operating rooms at the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, marking a significant step in strengthening the Sultanate’s national healthcare capabilities through advanced medical infrastructure and governance-led project execution.
These capabilities are designed to enhance surgical accuracy and efficiency, raise patient safety standards, and support complex and specialized procedures, while also delivering strong therapeutic and educational benefits for medical professionals.
The launch of the expansion reflects a qualitative shift in the management of healthcare projects within the University Medical City system. Following the city’s establishment, implementation pathways were restructured after a comprehensive review of existing projects, enabling the completion and operation of this technically complex facility within a record timeframe. This was achieved through clear project-management methodologies, tighter alignment between planning and execution, strengthened accountability, and a focus on outcomes linked to national health priorities.
