MUSCAT : The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, has launched the SME Sector Executive Plan for 2026–2030, a comprehensive roadmap aimed at strengthening small and medium enterprises as a key engine of economic growth, diversification and job creation in the Sultanate.
It seeks to enhance the sector’s competitiveness, increase its contribution to GDP, and expand access to local, regional and global markets, while supporting innovation, entrepreneurship and the transition to a knowledge-based economy.
The implementation framework is built around several strategic pillars, including market access and value chains, financing and investment, strengthening local content, and fostering a culture of entrepreneurship, skills and innovation. These pillars were developed through a participatory approach involving government and private sector stakeholders supporting SMEs, and are grounded in research, benchmarking and international best practices.
