Muscat — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday described the conferment of Oman’s highest civilian honour as an honour for India, after His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said awarded him the Order of Oman during his official visit to the Sultanate.
“This honour is not just mine, it is an honour for India,” Modi said, expressing gratitude to Sultan Haitham and the people of Oman. He said the recognition reflected the deep-rooted friendship and mutual respect shared by the two countries.
The award was conferred in recognition of Modi’s contribution to strengthening bilateral ties between Oman and India, including expanding cooperation across political, economic and cultural spheres.
