Muscat — Governors of Oman’s governorates reviewed a number of development projects in the Wilayat of Nizwa as part of a periodic field visit to Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, according to an official statement.

During the second day of the visit, the governors, along with senior officials, reviewed several ongoing and planned development initiatives, including Nizwa Public Park and the Al Dakhiliyah Boulevard project. Officials said the projects reflect the governorate’s development momentum and contribute to improving quality of life and enhancing tourism appeal.

The field programme also included visits to the Wilayats of Al Hamra and Bahla, where the governors were briefed on heritage and urban development projects. In Al Hamra, the delegation reviewed the development of the Al Aqr heritage area and its role in supporting sustainable tourism while preserving the cultural identity of the wilayat.

In Bahla, officials were briefed on the Bahla Souq development project, which aims to revitalise traditional markets, support local economic activity and enhance the visitor experience, while maintaining the architectural and cultural character of the area.

Officials said the visits highlight an integrated development approach that balances economic growth with heritage preservation, in line with national development priorities. The projects are part of broader efforts to strengthen investment, stimulate tourism and improve living standards across Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

The governorate has been a key focus of development initiatives aimed at supporting sustainable urban growth, expanding tourism infrastructure and reinforcing its position as one of Oman’s leading cultural and heritage destinations.
