MUSCAT : Oman has confirmed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay an official visit to the country on December 17 and 18, marking a key milestone in bilateral relations between the two nations.

The visit comes amid growing momentum in Oman–India ties, particularly in trade, investment, energy cooperation and regional connectivity. It will be Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Oman since His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik assumed the throne.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi is expected to hold talks with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, focusing on strengthening strategic cooperation, expanding economic partnerships and reviewing regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The visit follows recent progress on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Oman and India, which has already been reviewed by Oman’s Shura Council and referred to the Cabinet for final approval. Officials have indicated that the agreement is expected to be signed during Prime Minister Modi’s visit, marking a major step toward boosting bilateral trade, investment flows and economic cooperation between the two countries.

India is one of Oman’s largest trading partners, while the Sultanate hosts a large Indian expatriate community and plays a strategic role in India’s engagement with the Gulf region. The visit is also expected to reinforce cooperation in logistics, manufacturing, tourism, renewable energy and technology.
