Muscat: The session was held under the patronage of His Excellency Mahmoud bin Yahya Al Dhahli, Governor of North Al Sharqiyah, and attended by Her Highness Dr. Mona bint Fahd Al Said, alongside Her Excellency Soumaira Chaudhry, UNICEF Representative in the Sultanate of Oman. The Ministry of Education also took part in the event.

The dialogue brought together students from public and private schools, special education institutions and inclusive schools, reflecting a broad and diverse representation of children and young people. The initiative aimed to raise awareness of key issues affecting children and youth, while providing them with a platform to express their views openly.

During the session, students shared their opinions, raised questions and engaged in discussions on a range of topics, including the right to education, health, environmental protection and climate change. Participants were also introduced to Oman’s Child Law and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, with a focus on key articles and their practical relevance.

The discussions highlighted how students can actively contribute to promoting children’s rights and strengthening education within their communities. Organisers stressed that such dialogue sessions play a vital role in ensuring children’s voices are heard and respected, in line with Article 12 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
