MUSCAT : Organised by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the two-day forum aims to provide practical solutions to elevate the quality of construction projects in the Sultanate of Oman by adopting environmentally friendly materials, improving energy efficiency, and developing more sustainable execution methods.
The opening of the forum was held under the patronage of Dr. Said Hamad Al Rubai’e, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences.

The event represents a pivotal platform that brings together experts to exchange experiences and support the sustainability journey in the urban sector of Oman. This contributes to leading the transition towards a low-emission built environment through eco-friendly materials, energy efficiency, the circular economy, and modern technologies.
The opening session included a discussion panel addressing challenges associated with applying eco-friendly materials and updating specifications, in addition to a visual presentation on the Omani Building Code. The forum showcased the latest innovations in low-carbon building materials, alongside panel discussions on energy efficiency. These included sessions on architectural design based on digital analysis, thermal energy storage systems, and advanced air conditioning technologies for the Gulf climate.
Meanwhile, the forum’s second day activities will focus on execution efficiency and the circular economy through panel discussions highlighting efficient execution strategies, applications of the circular economy in construction projects, and the role of modern technologies in enhancing infrastructure sustainability.
This forum comes at a time when the Sultanate of Oman is witnessing accelerated growth in infrastructure projects, coinciding with the updating of sustainability-related standards.
An exhibition accompanies the forum, featuring a range of low-emission building materials, recycling solutions, and circular economy initiatives.
