MUSCAT — Alumni of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in the Sultanate of Oman proudly celebrated Sir Syed Day, marking the 208th birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the visionary founder of AMU and a pioneering force in modern Indian education. The event was held at Hotel Muscat Holiday, Muscat, on 28 November 2025.

The gala gathering was graced by H.E. G. V. Srinivas, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, as the Chief Guest, alongside Professor Mohsin Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor of AMU, and Dr. R. A. Chaudhary, Chairman of the ACN Group of Institutions, as Guests of Honour.

Speaking on the occasion, H.E. G. V. Srinivas highlighted Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s monumental contributions to education and his transformative vision of progress rooted in knowledge.

Prof. Mohsin Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor of AMU, remarked on Sir Syed’s enduring legacy as a reformer, educator, and social leader who championed scientific thinking, rational inquiry, and inclusive advancement. “His contributions laid the foundation for generations of scholars and continue to inspire the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment,” he stated.

Dr. R. A. Chaudhary reflected on Sir Syed’s profound impact on modern education and underscored how that same inspiration guided him in establishing the ACN Group of educational institutions in India.

The event featured scholarly lectures, presentations, a quiz competition, and community engagement activities, all echoing Sir Syed’s mission of enlightenment, unity, and intellectual progress.

A special highlight of the evening was the screening of the historical AMU Tarana (Anthem) video by Paragon Events—a moving tribute that brought the proud legacy of Aligarh Muslim University to life through a new music rendition featuring some of India’s most celebrated voices.

The commemoration concluded with the Sir Syed Day Dinner, an esteemed tradition that brings together AMU alumni to celebrate fellowship, shared heritage, and the spirit of learning that Sir Syed devoted his life to championing.
