Muscat: His Excellency Hamad bin Khalifa Al Abri, Wali of Ibra, told the Oman News Agency that several key projects have been completed and are now operational, while others are under construction, all aimed at enhancing the quality of life for citizens and residents. The total cost of these projects amounts to RO 40,124,257.
Among the most significant efforts is the RO 8 million road network development plan, part of the governorate’s 2025 strategy. This includes the first phase of paving roads connecting Ibra’s villages over 12.5 km, internal road designs spanning 27 km, and illumination works with over 25 new lighting poles. Maintenance of damaged roads and the opening of the Al-Jaroula village road are also underway.
Municipal projects have focused on improving public amenities, such as a new children’s playground covering 2,887 sqm, a 3 km walkway in Al Shakhbit, an irrigation reservoir, and new public facilities in Ibra Park. Additionally, a public warehouse of 1,078 sqm has been completed to support community operations.

In the agricultural and fisheries sector, a major highlight is the upcoming agricultural products collection station, funded jointly by the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources and the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund. The RO 300,000 project spans 42,000 sqm and will be completed within 24 months. A new fish market of 2,081 sqm is also under construction, expected to open by mid-2026, alongside the ongoing maintenance of 21 falajs under a RO 2 million water resources program.
The health sector has seen tangible progress with the North Ibra Health Centre nearing completion at a cost of RO 1.2 million. The facility, spread across 25,000 sqm, will house 16 specialized clinics.
Heritage preservation remains a core pillar, with the restoration of Al-Manzifa and Al-Naseeb gates completed for RO 62,000, maintaining their traditional architecture and aesthetic charm. The Youth Initiatives Centre, costing RO 413,892, is nearing 80% completion and will serve as a hub for small and medium enterprises with 12 commercial incubator units.
Among the flagship completed projects is the Ibra Sports Complex, inaugurated in February, with a total cost of RO 12.8 million. Spanning 262,000 sqm, it accommodates 15,000 spectators and includes an Olympic pool, training facilities, and multi-purpose halls. The state has also completed groundwater recharge dams in the Qafifa and Warid valleys, valued at RO 7.185 million, as well as the Al-Mawaddah Basic Education School, which began operations in October.
Agriculture continues to thrive with the “Million Palm Tree Farm” project in Al-Mughaydir village, covering 64 hectares with plans for 10,000 palms, while the newly opened shooting range at Al-Ettifaq Sports Club and the rehabilitation of the Eid prayer area enhance community engagement.
Looking ahead, His Excellency Al Abri announced a lineup of forward-looking projects, including the dualization of the Al-Yahmedi–Al-Qafisi internal road, currently in bid analysis, and the establishment of the Future Centre for Artificial Intelligence, unveiled during COMEX as a key step in Oman’s digital transformation journey.
Future developments will also include the “Ibra Waterfront,” the “Model Neighborhood” in Al-Thabiti, the “Model Grape Farms,” and the expansion of the Women’s Wednesday Market. The beautification of Ibra’s public square, village entrances, and a large-scale heritage neighborhood redevelopment over 620,000 sqm are set to further redefine the Wilayat’s landscape.
