MUSCAT : The ministry stated that applications for the literacy programme will be accepted from August 30 to September 24, 2026, while adult education applications will be open until October 22, 2026.
Registration for both programmes will be conducted electronically, and applications submitted after the specified deadlines will not be considered.

Applicants can register in the governorate listed as their permanent address on their national identity card, the governorate where they work, or a governorate where they have previously studied for at least two years.

The ministry said social security beneficiaries, persons with disabilities and Omani citizens aged 60 and above are exempt from registration fees.

For adult education covering Grades 7 to 12, first-time registration costs RO 5 for Grades 7–11 and RO 10 for Grade 12. Re-registration fees are RO 10 for Grades 7–11 and RO 50 for Grade 12.

Applicants seeking remote study must select the option indicating that they wish to study remotely during the registration process.

Required documents include a copy of a valid national identity card, with at least six months’ validity, and a copy of the academic certificate for the last grade successfully completed. Eligible applicants seeking fee exemption must also provide a social security or disability card.

Those registering in a governorate other than the permanent address shown on their identity card must provide a no-objection letter from their employer confirming employment in that governorate.

After submitting an application, applicants will receive a text message containing their application number. Following review, preliminary acceptance or requests to correct information will be communicated by SMS. Applicants whose applications are preliminarily accepted must complete the process by paying the applicable fees through the registration platform.

The ministry warned that applications with incomplete documentation or unpaid applicable fees will not be considered. Applicants holding academic certificates issued outside Oman must select the ‘Applicant from outside the Sultanate’ option, otherwise their applications will be considered invalid and rejected.

Applicants who do not receive SMS notifications can track their applications through email, the registration platform or by contacting the Directorate General of Education in the governorate where they registered within five days of submitting the application.
