MUSCAT – Employers are urged to ensure timely wage transfers through the approved system to avoid financial penalties.

In its latest notice, the Ministry emphasized the necessity for all establishments to transfer workers’ wages through the WPS to avoid financial penalties.

“Transfer the wages of at least seventy-five per cent (75%) of the total number of workers in the establishment through the Wage Protection System, starting with the wages for September 2025.

“Transfer the wages of at least ninety per cent (90%) of the total number of workers in the establishment through the Wage Protection System, starting with the wages for November 2025,” the Ministry’s announcement stated.

This directive is issued in line with Ministerial Resolution No. 729/2024, published in the Official Gazette on December 15, 2024, and forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to regulate the labour market and ensure the timely and transparent payment of wages. The Ministry has warned that failure to comply with these requirements may result in financial penalties and other regulatory consequences.

Employers are therefore urged to take the necessary measures to align their payroll practices with the Wage Protection System to remain in compliance with national labour regulations.
