MUSCAT – The announcement follows a wide-ranging community consultation initiative aimed at enhancing the user experience and promoting safer, more accessible drone operations across the Sultanate.

Under the theme ‘Your opinion heard’, the CAA has introduced a series of changes to make drone services more accessible and user-friendly. New pricing packages are now available starting from RO 25, including a dedicated bundle for students, which has already benefited over 100 applicants. The authority has also launched a special, limited-time promotional offer of just RO 1 for temporary registration, along with a 10 percent discount on its Nawras package.

Additionally, to promote safe recreational and professional drone activity, the CAA has launched several initiatives to expand designated ‘green zones’ for flying. A specialised team was formed to collect and review user proposals, gathering over 800 suggested flight areas from drone enthusiasts across the country. Following which, an online portal has been made available for users to propose new green zones, with preliminary approvals already granted for a select number of areas.

The updates also include significant regulatory and legislative achievements. The CAA now permits the movement of drones between airports in the Sultanate, provided all necessary procedures are completed. Additionally, the authority is working in coordination with the Directorate General of Customs to allow citizens from 14 countries to bring their drones into Oman, subject to specific controls.
