The team also assessed challenges facing these factories, identified growth opportunities, and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between government entities and the private sector. These discussions support the objectives of the National Industrial Strategy and contribute to increasing local added value.
The field visit comes as Oman’s industrial sector continues to show strong performance. By the end of 2024, the contribution of manufacturing industries to GDP at constant prices surpassed RO 3.6 billion, while non-oil commodity exports exceeded RO 6.2 billion, including RO 1.8 billion in mineral products.
These indicators confirm the pivotal role of manufacturing industries in supporting economic diversification and enhancing local added value.
According to Eng. Khalid bin Salim Al Qassabi, Director General of Industry, such visits, in partnership with relevant authorities, allows the Ministry to directly engage with factory owners and employees, thereby building a deeper understanding of their needs to provide appropriate solutions and opportunities for industrial networking.
He also pointed out that the Directorate General will continue similar visits across other governorates as part of a coordinated national plan. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to empowering the industrial sector in alignment with Oman Vision 2040, by supporting local content initiatives and strengthening the country’s industrial base.
