WASHINGTON : The AI company revealed that nearly 330 million of those daily requests come from users in the United States alone. Despite the rising demand, most users continue to rely on the free version of ChatGPT, which now boasts over 500 million weekly active users globally.
These new figures underscore the chatbot’s swift global adoption since its launch in 2022. In a previous statement in December 2024, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the platform was handling more than a billion daily requests. The new data indicates that usage has more than doubled in less than a year.
According to web analytics firms, ChatGPT is currently the fifth most visited website in the world, recording approximately 4.6 billion visits in May. Since its release, the platform reached 100 million users within its first three months — and now commands a remarkable 62.5% share of the AI tools market.
