MUSCAT – According to the CPA, the dispute arose when a consumer purchased heavy machinery from a company specialising in industrial equipment. After a short period of use, the consumer reported multiple malfunctions and found that the machine failed to comply with the contractual specifications. The consumer sought a replacement and a refund, but the company did not respond adequately to the request.
Following the complaint, the CPA intervened, initiated formal procedures, and engaged with both parties. The matter was resolved through an amicable settlement, under which the consumer received a full refund in exchange for returning the faulty machine and terminating the contract.
The Authority emphasised that this case reflects its ongoing efforts to protect consumer rights and promote fairness and transparency in commercial dealings. It further urged all suppliers to comply with the relevant laws and regulations to maintain a just and trustworthy marketplace for all.
