MUSCAT : The forum brought together a distinguished group of CEOs from both public and private sector institutions, alongside presidents and deans of private higher education institutions, with the shared mission of aligning educational outcomes with labor market demands in line with Oman Vision 2040.

Delivering the ministry’s address, Yahya bin Salam Al Mandhari, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry, underscored the strategic significance of the forum. “Education is a fundamental pillar for building Omani citizens capable of contributing effectively to sustainable development,” he said. “Aligning higher education with the needs of the labour market is a national necessity dictated by our aspirations for a diversified, knowledge-based economy.”

The forum served as a platform for dialogue, cooperation, and policy alignment to enhance academic programs, boost skill acquisition, and create sustainable employment opportunities. Among the highlights was the signing of 18 cooperation agreements by the Endowment Foundation for Supporting Education (Siraj), including a landmark partnership with Sohar Aluminium and 17 private educational institutions.

Engineer Mahmoud bin Khalfan Al-Hadidi, CEO of Siraj Foundation, noted the significance of these partnerships, stating that they reflect Siraj’s strategic efforts to foster community solidarity and extend educational support to students in need. The foundation also showcased initiatives like the University Student Sponsorship program and the Siraj Advantages digital platform to streamline donations and support services.

The forum’s agenda included impactful presentations from both the public and private sectors, with a spotlight on successful academic-industry collaborations. The Ministry also introduced its Ejaad platform, aimed at facilitating research-driven innovation through joint projects that contribute to a knowledge-based economy.

In recognition of ongoing contributions to educational empowerment, the forum concluded with the honoring of several institutions—public, private, and academic—for their continued commitment to providing scholarships and academic support.

According to policy think-tank Live Success, the forum marks a critical inflection point in Oman’s education landscape. “By institutionalizing partnerships and ensuring education reflects real-world demands, Oman is not just preparing graduates—it’s shaping future-ready leaders for the global stage,” the platform noted.

This first-of-its-kind initiative sets the tone for deeper, more meaningful collaboration as Oman works to position itself as a regional hub of innovation, academic excellence, and sustainable development.
