Muscat – As part of the sector’s readiness, Salalah Airport will introduce a drive-through check-in service for the first time during the 2025 Khareef season.

This will be introduced as part of the “Travel Easy” service, allowing passengers to complete check-in procedures, receive their boarding pass, and drop off their luggage without having to leave their vehicles.

The Civil Aviation Authority, Oman Airports Company, Oman Air, and SalamAir are working together to enhance air traffic, increase domestic flight frequencies, and boost the operational efficiency of Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport. These measures aim to ensure smooth air travel and high-quality passenger services in line with the highest international standards.

The Civil Aviation Authority indicated that this readiness reflects the integration of the sector’s components to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable aviation system. It emphasized the aviation sector’s strategic role in supporting the tourism economy, enhancing infrastructure, and solidifying Oman’s position as a premier tourist destination.

The Authority has intensified its operational and field preparations, including reviewing emergency response plans, confirming the readiness of air traffic control systems, and providing accurate weather forecasts. Continuous coordination with stakeholders ensures a safe and seamless travel experience for all passengers.

These preparations also include a significant expansion in air operations:
• Oman Air will begin its intensive operations from the beginning of July, with the number of daily flights reaching 12 flights during peak times.
• SalamAir will begin operations at the end of June, with up to 8 daily flights from July 10 through the end of August. Additionally, direct flights between Sohar and Salalah will begin on July 15, operating once daily.

To meet rising demand, both airlines have expanded seat capacity, with Oman Air allocating more than 70,000 additional seats by the end of the year, a 16 percent increase compared to the same period last year. SalamAir too has increased the number of seats by more than 58 percent, compared to 2024, reaching approximately 176,000 seats for 2025.

Regarding fares for Omanis, Oman Air will continue to offer fixed fares on all flights scheduled between July 1 and September 15 of this year, starting from RO 32 for a one-way flight and RO 54 for return. SalamAir fares start from RO 30 for a one-way flight and Ro 48 for a return flight.

Oman Airports has confirmed the completion of its preparations at both Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport, ensuring a comprehensive and safe travel experience for passengers. These preparations included ensuring the integration of the service system at all stages of the journey, from booking procedures to arrival, with a focus on providing more distinguished services in line with international standards and best operational practices in the aviation sector.

Salalah Airport continues to enhance the travel experience by offering services that facilitate travellers’ procedures, including the “Travel Easy” service, which allows travellers to complete check-in procedures and drop off their luggage between 12 hours and 6 hours before departure. This service will be operational daily from 8 am to 8 pm, from July 15 to September 15, 2025.

The airport will also introduce a vehicle-based check-in service for the first time during the 2025 Khareef season. This will be introduced as part of the “Travel Easy” service, allowing passengers to complete check-in procedures, receive their boarding pass, and drop off their luggage without having to leave their vehicles. This represents a qualitative shift in facilitating the travel experience and enhancing the passenger experience at Salalah Airport.
