Muscat: The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), in cooperation with key stakeholders including the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, continues to push for stronger local and foreign investment in the food industries sector. These efforts align closely with Oman Vision 2040’s focus on food security and sustainable economic growth.

Khalid bin Sulaiman Al-Salhi, Director General of Marketing and Commercial Affairs at Madayn, announced that 13 new food industry projects have been localized in the first five months of 2025 alone, with a combined investment exceeding RO 14 million. Spread across more than 224,000 square meters, these new ventures include production facilities for vegetable oils, flour, tuna, water, food packaging, and logistics.

Al-Salhi also revealed that several more contracts are under evaluation and expected to be finalized before the end of the year. He emphasized Madayn’s commitment to supporting the food sector through dedicated space allocations across all industrial cities, including new agricultural zones in Al Mudhaibi, Thumrait, and Suwaiq.

One of Madayn’s newest initiatives is the “Madayn Agricultural Project,” a value-added program to promote sustainability in the sector. As part of this effort, Madayn is equipping greenhouses in multiple industrial zones, aiming to support entrepreneurship, enhance domestic agricultural supply, and reduce dependence on imports.

In a significant international development, Madayn has signed a memorandum of understanding with a South Korean company to establish a smart farm project in Oman. The project will focus on cultivating Korean fruits and operating a café based on farm-to-table principles.

To strengthen the sector’s visibility and attract investment, Madayn is actively marketing food industry opportunities through global exhibitions and campaigns.
