Central Bank of Oman allocates RO 50.5 million in treasury bills this week

The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has announced the successful allocation of OMR 50.5 million in government treasury bills this week.

MUSCAT : According to the CBO, the total allocation includes three types of treasury bills—91-day, 182-day, and 364-day maturities—each offering varied returns and discount rates to cater to market demand.

The 91-day treasury bills were issued with a total value of RO 2 million. These bills recorded an average acceptable price of RO 98.935 per RO 100, with both the average and lowest acceptable prices matching. The average discount rate stood at 4.27170 percent, while the average return reached 4.31769 percent.

Meanwhile, the 182-day bills garnered the largest share, with a total value of RO 28.5 million. The average and lowest acceptable price for this tranche was RO 97.850, yielding a discount rate of 4.31181 percent and an average return of 4.40655 percent.

For the 364-day bills, the CBO allocated RO 20 million. The average acceptable price came in at RO 95.780, with the lowest price slightly lower at RO 95.760. This category recorded an average discount rate of 4.23159 percent and an average return of 4.41804 percent.

The CBO also confirmed that the repo rate for these treasury bills stands at 5.00 percent, while the discount rate under the treasury bill facility is set at 5.50 percent.
